The client Tulcan Energy rented the Shelf Drilling Mentor (SDM), SLB Mud Logging Unit, Halliburton cementing unit, and KES Separation Solids Control & Waste management package for the drilling operations. And it was great experience to work with international oil drilling solutions providers, by exchanging cutting-edge ideas in technology improvement and innovation. Our equipment working at Shelf Drilling Mentor (SDM) basically including 2 parts, Solids control & drilling waste management.
Part 1: KES Separation Solids Control Equipment working at SDM
The client rent one set high speed centrifuge from us and another used and refurbished NOV brandt centrifuge. The centrifuges application is to reduce mud weight at short time. Both of the centrifuges worked very well. Our engineers took photos and videos to record the milestone event. Both of the two sets centrifuges are 14in middle size bowl centrifuges with Netzsch brand feed pumps.
Part 2: KES Drilling Waste Management Equipment working at SDM
All the drilling waste management equipment are supplied by KES Separation Machinery. The equipment including:
- KES Separation manual speed regulation screw conveyors, long screw conveyors to collect the drilling cuttings from shaker to Vertical cuttings dryer.
- KES Separation heavy duty vertical cutting dryer, with air knife for cleaning the basket screen, with stainless steel durable performance basket screen, with laundry channel cleaning pumps.
KES Separation waste management centrifuge which is arranged after Vertical cuttings dryer. The effluent discharge from cuttings dryer will flow to catch tank by gravity. There are 2 compartments in the catch tank. The effluent will drop in the 1st compartment, and the nemo pump will transfer the dirty effluent to the centrifuge for treatment, to reduce the mud weight. After that, the clean drilling fluids from waste management centrifuge will flow back to the 2nd compartment of catch tank. and the other small pump will pump this clean drilling fluids to flush the laundry channel of vertical cuttings dryer. More volume of clean drilling fluids generated could be transferred back to the active mud tank system for reuse.
As for the waste management centrifuge, we usually recommend VFD centrifuge for flexible operation. However, client can also manage by fixed speed centrifuge because of the limited budget. The fixed speed centrifuge speed can be adjusted by replacing different size pulley with belt, 3200RPM/2700RPM/2200RPM pulleys will be available according to site requirement. The Variable Speed Centrifuge is equipped with VFD control panel, and the user can adjust the bowl speed and differential speed conveniently by HMI touch screen. We can also provide Hydraulic centrifuges similar to Derrick DE1000, which is higher cost than VFD centrifuge.
