Mud Cleaner is the second stage and the third stage solids control equipment used to treat the drilling fluid. KESMI drilling mud cleaner are combined from desander, desilter and an Underflow Screen; Mud cleaner has the higher cleaning function compared with separated desander and desilter. In addition to the reasonable design process, it equals another shale shaker. KESMI mud cleaner structure is compact with less footprint, popular application for onshore & offshore drilling operations.
The cyclones normally have two sizes: 10inch size cyclones and 4inch size cyclones. The 10inch cyclones called desander hydro-cyclones which can separate bigger particles from 40~100microns; the 4inch cyclones called desilter hydro-cyclones can separate 15~70microns smaller particles.
Mud Cleaner is normally installed after shale shaker. The fine drilling fluids passed shaker screen will drop down to catch tank, and the centrifugal pump will transfer the drilling fluids and feed to cyclones in proper pressure. Only with suitable feeding pressure, the cyclones can work well and separate the solids particles as expected. Correct operation of mud cleaner can remove more fine solids which are not necessary for the drilling operation, and reduce the working burden of decanter centrifuge. Keeping good condition of decanter centrifuge can help to save lots of operation cost for the whole mud system.
